• Skin Care Products

Newport Skin Care products have multiple spot correctors combined with retinol, alpha hydroxy acids and sunscreens, which act together to fade and prevent pigmentation.

  • Topical Prescription Medications

Prescription agents can be added to your regimen and picked up at local pharmacies (though are not usually covered by your insurance, as they are “cosmetic” agents. For example, tretinoin is a strong retinoid product that promotes skin cell turnover and renewal and hydroquinone is a spot corrector that can be in OTC products but requires a prescription for strengths of 4% or more.

  • Chemical Peels

Chemical acids are applied to the skin to induce peeling and removal of the surface skin cells to smooth wrinkles and also can stimulate elastin and collagen to improve skin tone and texture and reduce laxity and sagging, as well as fade hyperpigmentation of freckles, age spots, and melasma.

  • Laser Skin Rejuvenation and Peels

Laser Skin Rejuvenation is used to smooth skin wrinkles and improve skin tone and reduce laxity and sagging by peeling or ablating the surface skin cells and/or heating the skin to promote collagen and elastin production and remodeling in the skin. The ablation/peeling with Erbium:Yag laser can help fade hyperpigmentation and treatment with Nd:Yag laser can help to mild degree. IPL or diode lasers (not presently available at this office) can target pigmented areas more specifically.
NOTE that SUN AVOIDANCE and SUNSCREENS are important for management before and after any of these treatments to treat and present pigment and to prevent further pigmentation.
